Kulu Teach

Use the Kulu Teach Chrome extension to teach Kulu how to onboard your users.

Intro

Kulu Teach is a Chrome extension you use to teach Kulu how to onboard users onto your app. You will use Kulu Teach to tell Kulu what to click on the screen, what to say while clicking it, and what contextual information to use to advise users if they have any questions.

Install and Recording Instructions

  1. Open Chrome: chrome://extensions/
  2. Switch on Developer mode
  3. Click “Load unpacked”
  4. Unzip Kulu Teach and load the unzipped folder
  5. Go to your application page, then click to start your extension
  6. Click “Login with Google”, and choose the same Google account you used for Kulu Portal
  7. Select your company account and click Continue
  8. Click Start recording

  11. Press Stop recording to finish recording
  12. Enter your workflow name, then upload

How to handle typical onboarding steps

  • Navigation clicks (e.g. clicking a button in the side panel to navigate to a page)
    • Hold R and click the element
    • Leave action as automated
  • Form entries (e.g. entering contact information)
    • Hold R and click the submit / next button only
    • Change the action to user input
    • Enter any contextual information that Kulu should use to advise users on this step (e.g. “Hey Kulu. For this form users should only enter their professional work contact information. If they don’t have a work phone number they can leave this field blank.”)
  • Configuration areas (e.g. dashboards, tables and charts where there is no ‘submit’ type button)
    • Toggle on ‘Highlight and wait’ on the Kulu Teach bottom panel
    • Hold R and select the area that the user should configure (e.g. the chart area)
    • Enter any contextual information that Kulu should use to advise users on this step (e.g. “Hey Kulu. For this chart users can make use of various line styles such as curved or straight. All this info will pull directly from their database. They can also modify the colours by clicking on each line.”)

What the extension can record now

  • Clicking — Either automated (Kulu clicks the element) or user input (Kulu waits for the user’s click, then proceeds; typical for forms where Kulu waits until submit to trigger the next step).
  • Highlight & wait — User-input only. Highlights an element for explanation, then waits for the user to confirm the step.
  • Hover (experimental) — If your site needs hover to open menus, please share a URL (and a demo account if available). We’ll test and configure it for you.

Important notes

  • For security reasons, we do not record any text input or form field entries.
  • Actions inside iframes (embedded pages) cannot currently be recorded.
